Indian hockey midfielder Manpreet Singh leaves IOB, joins BPCL

Indian hockey midfielder Manpreet Singh is making significant strides in recent times. He got engaged to his long-time Malaysian girlfriend Illi Najwa Saddique recently and subsequently made a job switch from Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) to Bharat Petrochemicals Corporation Limited (BPCL).

The 21-year-old Punjab lad had served as Assistant Manager at IOB and joined BPCL as a A-grade sportsperson. Manpreet is excited about his new innings at IOB. “Pretty excited to be playing for BPCL – it is one of the domestic clubs that regularly participates in domestic events. I’m keyed about settling down in a new playing environment,” Manpreet says bubbling with excitement.

Manpreet, who is nicknamed 'Korean' will rubbing shoulders with the likes of Indian striker Tushar Khandker and other internationals like Hari Prasad, Ravi Pal and William Xalco. “Playing alongside these international guys will only help my game,” he quips.

Manpreet, who is currently in The Hague for his maiden World Cup, is expected to don the BPCL jersey after the conclusion of India’s World Cup campaign.
