Asian Hockey Federation president Sultan Azlan Shah is no more

The Sultan of Perak, Raja Azlan Shah, an avid hockey lover, in whose name the prestigious Sultan Azlan Shah Cup tournament is held in Malaysia every year (an annual event since 1998 after starting as a biennial event in 1983), has passed away. He was 86.

Azlan, who is also the Asian Hockey Federation (AHF) president, was a lawyer by profession. He was the 9th King or Yang di-Pertuan Agong of Malaysia from 26 April 1989 to 25 April 1994.
