Hockey India acts tough, relegates Kerala to associate member

Sending out a strong message that state hockey bodies must always keep their house in order, Hockey India (HI) has relegated Hockey Kerala to an associate member from full member status owing to alleged irregularities in its functioning.

HI's disciplinary committee took this decision at a meeting where they discussed the functioning of Hockey Kerala. The disciplinary committee members reviewed the report provided by Hockey Kerala and came to a conclusion that there were indeed irregularities in its functioning.

However, all is not lost for Hockey Kerala as they will have an opportunity to appeal against the decision within 30 days. Hockey Kerala senior vice-president M A Kareem and general secretary Ramesh Kolappa attended the meeting.
