New Zealand call up drag-flicker Andy Hayward for three-match Japan series


New Zealand has included drag-flicker Andy Hayward for the upcoming three-match series against Japan. Hayward, who played for Delhi Waveriders in the inaugural Hero Hockey India League, had missed the Hockey World League and the 2nd Hockey India League owing to injury.
Cory Bennett, who also missed out on the Black Sticks' silver-medal effort at the World League Final through injury, is also back in the side.

The Colin Batch-coached Black Sticks have named a 20-member squad for the three match series Japan – it will be played at Tauranga from March 12-15. The squad also includes vastly experienced fullback Dean Couzins, who skipped the 2nd Hockey India League after turning out for Delhi Waveriders in the inaugural Hero Hockey India League.

Strikers Hugo Inglis who played for Uttar Pradesh Wizards and Simon Child, who played for Delhi Waveriders are named in the squad. Goalkeeper Hamish McGregor, who played for Delhi Waveriders
in the 2nd Hero Hockey India League, also also finds a place in the squad.

The squad: Joe Bartholomew, Cory Bennett, Marcus Child, Simon Child, Dean Couzins, Steven Edwards, Nick Haig, Andy Hayward, Blair Hilton, Hugo Inglis, Stephen Jenness, Devon Manchester, Hamish McGregor, George Muir, Arun Panchia, Jared Panchia, Kane Russell, Alex Shaw, Jacob Smith, Blair Tarrant.
