Junior Men’s Nationals: Services spank Assam 7-0

Services Sports Control Board (SSCB) chalked up their second win in the 4th Hockey India national junior men’s ‘B’ division championship, drubbing Assam 7-0 in Chennai.

The Pool C match saw Naveen Minz give SSCB an early advantage with two goals before they lapped up five goals in the second half to pull off a facile win. Jitender scored twice in the second stanza, while Anup Minj, Mangra Bhengra and Ramandeep scored one apiece. Bihar swamped Goa 9-3 in the same group.

In Pool D Manipur hammered Tripura 9-3, while Jammu & Kashmir eased past Rajasthan 5-3.

In other games Steel Plant Sports Board bulldozed Uttarakhand 14-0 in Pool A, while Vidarbha Hockey Association humbled Gujarat 4-2 in Pool B.
