Pakistan ring disappointment on India’s World Cup campaign

Pakistan brought about a disappointing end to India’s Junior Men’s World Cup campaign, prevailing over them 4-2 in a penalty shootout after both teams were locked 1-1 in regulation time.

Ali Rizwan stunned the home crowd at the Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium to silence striking the opening goal in the 7th minute and the scoreline remained that way for nearly the whole match before Indian hopes were injected a big boost by Gurjinder Singh, who scored a face-saving goal in the 66th minute to push the contest into a penalty shootout.

Pakistan kept their composure in the penalty shootout and converted all their four shots, while for India Gurjinder Singh and Talwinder Singh were on target – Imran Khan and Satbir Singh missed the target.

With this loss, India finished 10th – at the 2009 World Cup they had taken the 9th spot.
