Malaysia coach Dharmaraj issued show-cause letter for derogatory Facebook post

Malaysia’s men’s hockey team coach K. Dharmaraj grabbed the eyeballs when he dared the Malaysian Hockey Confederation (MHC) to sack him following the national team’s wooden-spoon finish at the 2014 World Cup in Hague.

Dharmaraj has now again courted controversy by lashing out at MHC management on his Facebook page terming them as ‘weak’, according a Malaysian newspaper New Straits Times. The Malaysian Hockey Confederation has taken umbrage at Dharmaraj’s Facebook post and issued a show-cause letter asking him to respond to the same by this week.

The development comes a week before Malaysia takes part in the upcoming Commonwealth Games beginning in Glasgow from July 25. It remains to be seen what kind of action MHC takes against Dharmaraj given the fact that the Commonwealth Games is round the corner.

If the off-the-field happenings are not enough, Malaysia suffered another blow with Azlan Misron and Faizal Saari withdrawing from the Commonwealth Games-bound team.

Malaysia are pitted alongside defending champions Australia, India, Wales, South Africa and Scotland are in Group A. The world number thirteen side will launch their Group B campaign against Canada on July 26. They face England on July 27), Trinidad and Tobago (July 29) and New Zealand (July 31).
