Investec London Cup: England men set up final date with Ireland

England men’s hockey team eased past 15th ranked Ireland 4-1 to set up a final date with the same opponents in the Investec London Cup Hockey Tournament being played at Lee Valley in London.
Barry Middleton gave England an early lead in the 11th minute. Alastair Brogdon doubled the lead in the 31st minute before Harry Martin made the scoreline 3-0 on the stroke of half-time.

Ronan Gormley reduced the deficit early in the second half, but England were unperturbed by that strike as Henry Weir netted the fourth goal to ensure his side went into the final with a right frame of mind. In another game 12th ranked South Africa edged 24th ranked Scotland 3-2.

Meanwhile, 6th ranked England women will clash with 11th ranked South Africa in the final – England pipped Scotland 2-1, while South Africa drubbed Wales 8-2.
