Hockey India's High Performance Programme kicks off next month

Hockey India’s (HI) ambitious High Performance Programme will take off next month with the launch of its website, which will be an interactive platform for coaches and players of the country.

HI is expected to launch in all three websites in a phase manner, with the basic level website being rolled out next month, while the intermediate level website will be launched by October. The elite level website is expected to be up and running by December-2014.

It is learnt that the website will be on the lines of International Hockey Federation’s (FIH) Hockey Academy’s portal. The website is expected to work towards the development of coaches and players from the grassroots level to a high performance level.

The website initiative is a brainchild of Hockey India’s High Performance Director and legendary Dutch coach Roelant Oltmans. It remains to be seen how these websites are going to boost Indian hockey given the fact that obtaining internet access in rural belts where hockey is more concentrated, is a challenge in the country.
