Injured Australian fullback Jeremy Hayward pulls out of Commonwealth Games

Australian men’s hockey team fullback Jeremy Hayward has pulled out of the upcoming Commonwealth Games in Glasgow after suffering a stress reaction in his right foot. The 21-year-old Darwin lad, who won the Young Player of the Tournament award at the recent World Cup in The Hague, will be replaced by experienced Kiel Brown.
The change in the Kookaburras’ squad has been ratified by the Australian Commonwealth Games Association (ACGA). Brown, who has made 145 international appearances, will make his Commonwealth Games debut in Glasgow. Brown last featured in the Hockey World League Finals in Delhi in January and was also a member of the 2010 World Cup-winning team as well as the bronze-winning 2008 Beijing Olympics team.
Australia will launch their campaign against Wales on July 26.
