Argentina eves beat Australia to win Hawke's Bay Hockey Festival

2010 world champions Argentina hockey eves clinched the Hawke's Bay Hockey Festival easing past fourth-ranked Australia 3-0 in the final tie at Hastings. Rocio Sanchez Moccia gave Las Leonas the lead in the first stanza before Delfina Merino consolidated their position in the second half with their second strike. Carla Rebecchi literally put the issue beyond Australia with the third goal.

It may be pertinent to mention that Argentina had beaten Australia by an identical margin in the league phase.

Hosts New Zealand had to settle for the fourth place after narrowly going down 2-3 to seventh-ranked China. Eighth-ranked Korea took the fifth spot pipping Japan 2-1 to consign the latter to a wooden spoon finish.
