Hockey World League Round 1: Malaysian eves storm into semifinal


The Malaysian women’s hockey team stormed into the semifinals of the Women’s Hockey World League Round 1 Tournament, smashing hosts Singapore 10-0 in a Pool A tie. The Malaysian eves earlier launched their campaign on a rollicking note, clobbering Sri Lanka 14-0.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan eves also eased into the semifinals from Pool B. The Kazakhs chalked up their third win, pipping Myanmar 2-0 – they earlier had thrashed Hong Kong 9-0 and got the better of Thailand 2-0 in their first two games.
Thailand also significantly enhances his semifinal chances, humbling Hong Kong 3-0 after posting a 4-0 win over Myanmar in their earlier matches.
Hosts Singapore also look good to qualify for the last-four stage from Pool A, downing Sri Lanka 4-0 in a three team Pool.
As many as seven teams are taking part in the six-day event.
