The Indian women’s hockey team swamped Malaysia 5-0
in the first of the six match Test series in Kuala Lumpur.
Talented Rani Rampal drew first blood for the Blueskirts in the 19th minute while skipper Ritu Rani doubled the lead close to half-time.
There was no lack of intensity from the Indians in the second stanza as debutant Gurjit Kaur converted a penalty corner to make the scoreline 3-0 before Rani Rampal added her second of the day. Ritusha Arya made it 5-0 close to the final hooter to give India a facile win.
